Welcome to SYMBOL

Considered by some to be the turning point of World War II, the Casablanca Conference (codenamed SYMBOL) was held in January 1943, and was attended by the Prime Minister of Great Britain, Winston Churchill, and the President of the United States, Franklin Roosevelt, as well as by all their top generals.

This site explores the significance of the personal relationship between the war leaders to the conference. It is based around a 15,000 word degree-level dissertation. It also includes relevant documents and images, links and an enhanced bibliography.

The site also includes other essays covering various World War II topics, including the Holocaust, the SS and Mussolini's Italy.
